Engineering Philosophy

True Life Audio draws on a long background in transformers and tube circuitry, but its designs are not exercises in nostalgia. The SSP-1 preamplifier is a pure Class A, transformer-coupled, single-ended design built around NOS 6J5 tubes, with its power supply isolated in a separate chassis and tube-rectified around a NOS GZ32.

The SSA-350 monoblocks combine tube rectification and a single-ended 6J5 input stage with an ultra-linear solid-state stage and solid-state current amplification. The TSI-Signature integrated amplifier extends this hybrid approach into a single component. In each case, the objective is to preserve the dimensional and textural strengths of valves while providing the drive and consistency expected of a modern reference amplifier.

Listening Experience

TLA presents music with liquidity, harmonic density, and a convincing sense of three-dimensional form. Voices and instruments have presence without excess warmth, while the upper frequencies remain open and free of the glare sometimes associated with less disciplined tube designs.
