Auralic VEGA G2 DAC with LEO GX Master Clock

Offered for sale is an AURALiC VEGA G2 streaming DAC paired with the LEO GX reference master clock. This is the original G2/GX combination: a high-performance digital front end that brings DAC, analogue volume control, and dedicated external clocking together in two matching components.

The VEGA G2 provides USB, AES/EBU, coaxial, and optical digital inputs, along with balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analogue outputs. Its analogue volume control offers useful flexibility when integrating it into a system. The LEO GX supplies a dedicated high-frequency clock signal directly to the VEGA G2’s conversion stage, with optical isolation between its control and clock circuits. Together, they represent AURALiC’s carefully engineered approach to conversion and timing.

John E. Johnson, Jr. reviewed this exact pairing in Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity and concluded: “The VEGA G2 is the best DAC I have ever tested.” — John E. Johnson, Jr., Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity, February 2019. On the combined system’s measurements, he wrote: “Jitter, which is an important issue to be dealt with, is dealt with superbly.” — John E. Johnson, Jr., Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity. These are historical review observations, not a claim about current software or service support.

AURALiC has ceased trading. Buyers should not rely on continuing factory service, manufacturer warranty support, future firmware updates, or continued compatibility with third-party streaming services. The VEGA G2’s conventional digital inputs provide an alternative to its network-streaming functions, although source compatibility should be checked for the intended setup. For the informed buyer, the attraction is a substantial DAC and dedicated master-clock system with strong review credentials.
