Kubala-Sosna / XPander 7

Photograph 1 of 5
Offered for sale is a Kubala-Sosna XPander 7, the seven-outlet AC power distributor designed to bring the company’s Elation! engineering approach to the foundation of a serious audio system. This is a purposeful, passive distribution design focused on preserving musical coherence, tonal complexity, and the ease that allows a system to sound convincing rather than merely detailed.
The XPander uses seven individual hospital-grade outlets, each point-to-point wired with Elation! cable rather than linked through the bus bars of conventional duplex receptacles. Its rigid, high-density Corian enclosure gives the connections a substantial mechanical platform, while the 20-amp IEC inlet accepts a compatible 20-amp-connector power cable. With no active circuitry, it offers a straightforward approach to distributing AC power to source components and a preamplifier.
Positive Feedback’s Marshall Nack praised the XPander’s combination of neutrality, instrumental refinement, and control, concluding: “The XPander is a keeper and will become an essential part of my reference system.” — Marshall Nack, Positive Feedback. Jim Merod’s separate review captured the musical payoff just as directly: “The fun of listening is hugely increased.” — Jim Merod, Positive Feedback. Both reviewed the original XPander platform, not the later XPander 2.
For the enthusiast who has carefully chosen the source, preamplifier, and cabling, the XPander 7 is a thoughtful way to bring the same attention to power distribution. Its seven individual outlets make it practical for a substantial front-end system, and its substantial construction reflects Kubala-Sosna’s seriousness about the complete signal chain.
