Mike Frederickson Custom Double-Wide Audio Rack
10 Shelves

Photograph 1 of 3
An impressive custom audio rack from boutique builder Mike Frederickson, whose substantial welded-steel designs earned a following among serious audiophiles. This double-wide rack combines a clean black appearance with generous component capacity—a purposeful foundation for an extensive two-channel system.
The rack measures 44 inches wide, 45 inches high and 20 inches deep. Its side-by-side layout provides five shelf positions per side, for a total of 10 shelves. Currently fitted with casters for convenient positioning and access, it can also be set up on spikes.
Frederickson’s reputation was built on solid fabrication rather than elaborate marketing. Writing about his own custom Fredericksen rack on What’s Best Forum, owner Ron Resnick described it as “all steel welded into a one piece structure” and added, “This monster is the only rack I have ever found which does not sway.” Those comments concern his particular rack, but capture the appeal of this builder’s work.
For the enthusiast who appreciates custom metalwork, a straightforward design and room for a substantial component collection, this is a distinctive alternative to an ordinary equipment stand. Specifications
