The NUC-X treats the chips, traces, and power inside a music server as an engineering problem — not a parts list.

Why we distribute a music server

A music server sits at the start of the digital chain. What it sends downstream — and what noise it sends with it — reaches the converter before the music does. In our Private Listening Room, reducing that noise has meant quieter backgrounds and easier dynamics.

The NUC-X addresses this at the board level. A compact layout means short traces between chips, which means less radiated noise. A linear power supply sized for the three to seven watts audio streaming actually uses means the regulation operates in the range where it matters. R-Core transformer isolation and galvanically isolated DC output are engineering decisions, not marketing language.

We distribute DeJitter It because this is engineering we can demonstrate. The NUC-X runs Roon, handles the libraries our clients own, and integrates into a complete system.

What the NUC-X actually does

Small board, short traces

The NUC-X uses a compact ASUS NUC13ANHi7 board. Shorter PCB traces mean less antenna area for noise pickup and radiation, and shorter power-supply runs mean better regulation at the chip level. The physical layout is the engineering.

Power matched to the job

Audio streaming on a modern CPU uses up to seven watts, averaging around three. The NUC-X's linear power supply is tailored to that range. A single R-Core transformer, remote sensing, galvanically isolated balanced DC output. The regulation works in the range where audio operates.

Built for the library, not the benchmark

Intel Core i7-1360P, 32GB RAM standard. WiFi and Bluetooth are disabled and removed on standard units — they can be enabled on request. The NUC-X is configured for the way our clients listen.

Storage and software, configured

Up to three internal SSDs — one NVMe up to 8TB, one SATA up to 4TB, one M.2 up to 4TB. Roon is the standard configuration; Daphile is also supported. The NUC-X can boot from any of the drives.

Why does the server matter in a digital system?

The server is the first thing the converter sees. Noise generated inside the server — from oversized power supplies, long PCB traces, unnecessary wireless radios — can travel along interconnects into the DAC. In a resolving system, reducing that noise can mean quieter backgrounds and easier dynamics.

What software does it run?

Roon is the standard configuration. Daphile is also supported. WiFi and Bluetooth are disabled and removed on standard units — they can be enabled on request, but the engineering premise is that fewer radios means less noise.

How much storage can it hold?

Up to three internal SSDs — one NVMe up to 8TB, one SATA up to 4TB, one M.2 up to 4TB. The NUC-X can also boot from any of the drives. For most libraries, a single large NVMe is sufficient.
