The Giya range — G1 Spirit, G2, G3, and G4 — is what happens when a loudspeaker's enclosure, drivers, and crossover are designed as one problem. Laurence Dickie has spent a career treating the shape of a loudspeaker as an acoustic decision.

Why we distribute Vivid Audio

Every loudspeaker's enclosure answers the drivers' rear energy somehow. The Giya designs answer it with shape: the curved, tapering form is the physical outline of Tapered Tube Loading, the absorptive line behind each driver. Rear energy is taken up rather than reflected back through the cone, and the bass drivers' reaction forces are arranged to cancel each other. The form looks the way it does because of what it does.

The result is a loudspeaker whose presence in the room recedes. Giyas fill a space with effortless, laid-back scale, yet the performance seems to stand where the loudspeakers are rather than come from them. That quality runs across the range, from the G4 to the flagship G1 Spirit.

We have followed this range across its generations in our Private Listening Room and on film, and we match it with electronics chosen to respect what it does. When the system is right, the Giyas stop being the subject. The music is.

What the engineering actually does

Rear energy, absorbed — not stored

Tapered Tube Loading folds an exponentially tapered absorptive line behind each driver, so the energy radiated off the back of the diaphragm is taken up instead of reflected back through the cone or stored in the box. It is the core Vivid technology, and the reason the enclosure contributes so little sound of its own.

Break-up modes moved out of the way

Vivid's catenary dome profile — a catenary-curve diaphragm stiffened by a carbon-fiber ring — pushes the first break-up modes almost an octave higher than a conventional dome. Super Flux magnet motors reach a peak flux of 2.5 tesla, and copper-capped pole pieces cut third-harmonic distortion by a significant 20 dB.

Bass without reaction

Back-to-back bass drivers with coupled magnets oppose each other's reaction forces, working with two opposing ports, inside vacuum-infused, glass-reinforced composite enclosures built to control resonances and reflections. Bass arrives with authority and the cabinet stays out of it.

Which Giya belongs in my room?

The range runs from the G4 through the G2 and G3 to the G1 Spirit, and the engineering is shared — what changes is scale, bass extension, and the size of room each is meant to command. We would rather answer this with your room dimensions and your recordings than with a chart.

Is the unusual shape a styling exercise?

No. The curved, tapering form is the physical shape of Tapered Tube Loading — the absorptive line behind each driver. It looks the way it does because of what it does. In person the form reads as purposeful.

What amplification does a Giya deserve?

The Giyas are an honest load, but their transparency rewards quiet, controlled electronics. In our Private Listening Room we build systems around them with Audionet, TLA, and Mola Mola amplification depending on the room and the listener — and that is how a Private Audition is arranged.
