The Giya absorber horn, folded inside.
The Kaya 45 is a three-way Vivid Audio loudspeaker, designed for everyday rooms as well as dedicated listening rooms. It keeps the absorber horn that defines Giya, folded back inside the cabinet.
A direct descendant of Giya
Vivid calls the Kaya 45 a direct descendant of its Giya loudspeakers, and it shares much of the same technology. On Giya, the patented absorber horn curves over the top of the enclosure and gives the speaker its outline. On the Kaya 45 it is there for the same reason, folded back on itself so it fits inside.
Vivid's stated aim is a loudspeaker that is part of the room, not necessarily its principal feature. Kaya is the Zulu word for home; Vivid manufactures in South Africa. The range runs Kaya 90, Kaya 45, Kaya 25, Kaya S12 and the Kaya C35.
What the engineering actually does
The horn, folded inside
Vivid says its patented absorber horn eliminates resonances and coloration. On the Kaya 45 the horn is folded inside the cabinet.
Super Flux magnets on the midrange
Radial magnets with a large hole in the center, so sound passes from the diaphragm into the absorber. Vivid uses them on Giya bass drivers; on Kaya they are fitted to the midrange as well.
Three-way, more directional than Giya
Compared with the four-way Giya, Vivid says the Kaya 45 produces a slightly more directional sound field, because the tweeter projects forward rather than sideways.
Four drivers
HF: D26, a 26 mm tapered-tube-loaded alloy dome. MF: C100se, a 100 mm tapered-tube-loaded alloy dome. LF: two C125L 125 mm alloy cones.
The rest of the range
Kaya 90: three-way, six drivers. Kaya 25 and Kaya S12: two-way, two drivers. Kaya C35: three-way, four drivers.

Questions we hear in the listening room
What is the Kaya 45?
A three-way, four-driver Vivid Audio loudspeaker that keeps the Giya absorber horn, folded inside the cabinet. Vivid designed it for everyday rooms as well as dedicated listening rooms.
How is it different from Giya?
Giya is a four-way design with the absorber horn curving over the top. The Kaya 45 is a three-way with the horn inside, and its tweeter projects forward, so Vivid describes its sound field as slightly more directional.
